Where and how to learn vocals depends on the degree of seriousness of your intentions. As a rule, those who really want to succeed in singing, develop their voice and maybe even perform on a big stage are not limited to one source of musical knowledge.

Vocal teacher

If you are serious about learning vocal science, you should definitely take at least a few lessons from an experienced professional teacher. He or she will determine your voice type, range, and tell you about your prospects based on the initial data. And then – who knows, maybe after developing your voice and breathing, you will want to go down a highly specialized path: opera vocals, jazz, pop, rockā€¦

Regular lessons and hard work on yourself will allow you to succeed in any of the genres.

Choir

Singing in a choir is a good option for those who are not ready to take on the financial responsibility of hiring a personal music coach, but cannot give up their hobby and want to gain new experience, knowledge, and acquaintances. Be prepared that to participate in the choir you will need to audition, but by remembering all our rules and following the exercises above, you can easily cope with this task. Believe in yourself!

Video tutorials on YouTube

YouTube tutorials are great for taking the first steps towards your dream voice, and can be a great complement to regular visits to a teacher. However, they cannot replace training under the supervision of an experienced professional – there is too great a chance that without competent guidance in live communication, you will do something wrong and damage your connections, or simply learn certain techniques incorrectly. Remember: relearning is always more difficult than learning from scratch.

Voice training, proper breathing, and knowledge of basic techniques will help you learn to sing beautifully, and it doesn’t matter if your goal is to win over your friends in karaoke or become a pop star – it’s worth it anyway!

According to popular belief, it makes no sense to take up singing if you don’t have outstanding talent from the start. We hasten to reassure you: this opinion is wrong. In fact, there are not so many people in the world who are 100% “bearish” about singing. Almost all of us have minimal vocal talent, and in most cases, we can train our ears.

It’s not that difficult to check whether you have singing abilities and what level they are at:

  • Think about whether you’ve ever been told that you have a nice singing voice, for example, when you were singing along to your favorite song or having fun with your friends at karaoke. If so, the chances that you have really good vocal skills increase significantly;
  • Record your voice on a dictaphone – take your favorite song, find the backing track on YouTube or any other specialized website, and sing for 30 seconds. You can record vocals without accompaniment, but if you haven’t had any a cappella singing practice, it can be a challenge. Listen to the recording, evaluate your timbre, sound clarity, and accuracy of the melody;
  • If you are not too sure that you have correctly assessed your data, sign up for a lesson with a vocal teacher and let him or her listen to the recording. Most likely, this will not be enough, and you will be given a few simple chants to evaluate your range and asked to sing a song live;
  • You can also check your range on your own if you have a piano, synthesizer, or smartphone app. Playing along with yourself, sing the lowest note you can play without strain, and then gradually work your way up to the highest note you can. Don’t try to outdo yourself and sing notes that go beyond your current range. Without the guidance of an experienced teacher, you can easily ruin your voice. You will always have time to expand your range competently and correctly in the process of learning: few people are able to sing three or four octaves at once without preparation and training.

Learning to play the guitar is like a revelation between a student and a teacher. The final result depends on how the training begins.

In order to explain the algorithm of how to learn to play the guitar, it is enough to single out just a couple of actions – desire, practice, result. Everything seems simple, but how much research has been done and how many papers have been written with the conclusions of teachers, psychologists, and musicians about this.

Desire

This delicate matter is actually very manageable if you clearly understand how it arises. To cultivate interest and desire to play music, smart parents let their children listen to music, sing songs and dance together in an easy and relaxed way. You can show videos of other kids playing the guitar, go to concerts. Also, mom and dad often play the guitar for their children themselves, and it comes to the point where the children themselves begin to ask for a guitar in their hands.

Classes

The desire that has arisen should be reinforced by the powerful and skillful support of a guitar teacher. To achieve anything, you always need to work, because “you can’t catch a fish out of a pond without work.” Lessons should be systematic, the learning load should be equalized and consistent. The main thing is to start correctly, so that the desire is rekindled in the process of learning, and not fade into deep disappointment. Children and adults who enjoy their favorite pastime learn more easily and learn more than those who are forced to do it.

The result

In fact, to achieve the result, you will have to go a long way from the emergence of a desire and practicing with a teacher. And this path should be of the highest quality. Then the result will be fast, swift, pleasant and expected. At the Serenada Guitar School, we record video of our students playing the guitar and hold concerts. For a pleasant pastime and comfort in learning to play the guitar, this is the result for yourself and others.

All three components of guitar success are consistent and dependent on each other. It is impossible to neglect any of them.

How can a teacher help you learn to play the piano? https://www.poorvanga.com/how-can-a-teacher-help-you-learn-to-play-the-piano/ Thu, 14 Dec 2023 06:12:00 +0000 https://www.poorvanga.com/?p=38 There are people who have extraordinary abilities to play music, but even they need a person to guide them in their learning

There are people who have extraordinary abilities to play music, but even they need a person to guide them in their learning, to highlight their strengths and weaknesses. Working with a tutor has many advantages when learning to play the piano.

Here are just a few reasons why it’s better to learn with a teacher:

  • Individualized approach: During one-on-one lessons, the teacher’s full attention will be focused on you. Lessons will be adapted to your skills, and the teacher will choose tasks that will help you cope with your personal piano playing difficulties;
  • Tips and tricks: Most piano tutors have many years of experience in this field. They immediately notice the mistakes that a student makes and emphasize what needs to be worked on. This way, your learning will be as effective as possible;
  • Flexible learning: Classes at a music academy or academic institute tend to be more rigid in terms of time frames and learning styles, while individual lessons with tutors have completely opposite methods. Students decide when and where they want to study.

Regardless of your age and skills, learning to play the piano is much easier if you have an experienced teacher to help you.

Most typical activities involve only one side of the brain, while playing the piano forces the brain to bridge the gap between the activity of its left and right sides. How does this happen? When playing the piano, the right hand usually plays the melody, while the left hand provides the necessary accompaniment. In order for the right hand to work, the right side of the brain is activated, and for the left hand, the left side is activated. So, when you play the piano, both hemispheres of the brain work.

Have you ever dreamed of learning to play the piano? And decided to make your dream come true? Now let’s analyze the main points of initial piano learning.

So, the first step is to choose and purchase a piano. This is a rather expensive purchase, but it is definitely worth it to realize your dream!!! Whether it will be electronic or acoustic is up to you. Each instrument has its own advantages or disadvantages. It is better to buy it in specialized stores, and if you can’t decide which is better, the sales assistant will help you choose the most convenient instrument for your needs.

The second point is to determine your learning process. Will it be self-study or will you seek the help of a professional teacher? If you choose self-study, then my advice is to take at least a couple of lessons from a professional teacher to learn the correct hand position and how to sit at the instrument. After all, every time a person comes to my lesson who has been playing on their own for some time, the first thing we start with is “breaking” the hand and sitting at the instrument in the correct form. After all, if you play and sit incorrectly, you can get the so-called “overplaying of the hand”, which, unfortunately, leads to negative and painful consequences. If you have chosen a professional teacher, you can fully trust him, he will guide and correct the entire process of your learning.

The third point is the correct length of the nails. Yes, this is also a very important point, because long nails interfere with the correct hand position, knock on the keyboard, and also when playing fast, they can accidentally get stuck between the keyboard, which is not a pleasant feeling.

The fourth point is to study music theory and literacy. On the Internet and in specialized books, you can find a lot of information on this issue, teachers create free online schools, record videos, write books – so it is possible to deal with this issue yourself in our modern times, it will be quite difficult and incomprehensible at first, but it is possible.

The fifth point is the choice of works for learning. You don’t need to start with difficult pieces right away. everything should be gradual. It’s better to start by learning the mechanics of playing with each hand separately, then one at a time, and only after mastering the basics of the game with separate hands gradually combine them.

The sixth point is to never get frustrated. Yes, it’s hard to learn to play the piano, and it doesn’t happen in a day or a month. It takes time, practice, practice, and more practice! Don’t give up after a couple of days of not succeeding, you will eventually, learning is gradual and slow. But in the end, you will realize your dream and play the piano!
